Kru Pu Saves the Day!

Three more weeks! Just three weeks until we board the plane for our insane flights to Thailand. We're flying Korean Air from Chicago to Seoul (13.5 hours) and Seoul to Bangkok (5.5 hours) with only an hour layover in between. Jack says that is the adventure for him. Since he's such a nervous flyer, living in Thailand will be the bonus for making it through the journey.

Didn't I Tell You?

I started my TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) training this week. I opted to take the certification through CIEE so they set me up with a group called the TEFL Institute Online. It's an intensive 60-day course which puts my completion date about 2 weeks before I leave--yikes! I also have to do 20 hours of practicum work (observing, tutoring, or teaching), but I can start that now--whew! This will be a great certification to have even if I don't get hired in Thailand. There's always Japan, Korea, Chile, or even programs here in Madison...

The Big News!

Tuesday night was when all the excitement began. I received an email from CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange) accepting me for a position teaching English in Thailand! I read it three times before I believed what I was reading. I finished the application quite early in the process (they're not even due until mid-February) and wasn't expecting to hear from them for another month or more. Wow, I just about jumped out of my skin with elation.
