Kanchanaburi (Part 2): Elephants!

This morning was amazing! We went to Taweechai Elephant Camp to meet some pachyderms. Shot this on the way (I think I’m going to like this place!):

I was so excited to see that they had a baby elephant, only a few weeks old! He kept putting the bar in his mouth…maybe so he could stick his trunk out farther? Get a load of this cuteness!

And here’s his freckle-faced mama:

Here’s another little guy that’s a bit older snuggling with his mama:IMG_7091-001IMG_7044-001
Feeding frenzy!

The camp also offers elephant rides, but I declined for ethical reasons. However, while everyone was gone, I got some one-on-one time with the baby. I could do this all day!

Cats and dogs are ubiquitous in Thailand and the elephant camp was no exception. One particular feline wanted attention from the women selling bananas to feed the ‘phants. And to top it all off, there was a tiny kitten!

Also at Taweechai, we got a bamboo rafting ride down the river. This was incredibly peaceful, and we could jump in the water to cool off. So fun!

Our raft driver even sang us a little ditty!

After all this fun we headed back to the hotel to shower and get ready to go back to BKK to meet our coordinators. Everyone is super nervous. Jack is meeting me at the hotel too; unfortunately he had to miss out on all this fun. We’ll just have to make another trip back to Kanchanaburi!
